Biography
EMMY award-winner and three-time BAFTA nominated composer Inon Zur is internationally renowned for his emotionally dynamic original music scores for film, television and video game franchises including STARFIELD, FALLOUT, DRAGON AGE, PRINCE OF PERSIA, SYBERIA and THE ELDER SCROLLS.
Recognized as one of the most innovative and successful composers in the industry today, Inon Zur’s scores have received multiple awards, nominations and generated numerous best-selling soundtracks. Inon is currently scoring STARFIELD – the first new universe in 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of THE ELDER SCROLLS and FALLOUT series. Set hundreds of years in our future, STARFIELD is an epic about hope, our shared humanity, and answering our greatest mystery. STARFIELD will be released in 2023.
Inon’s recent projects also include the emotional ethno-classical score for SYBERIA: THE WORLD BEFORE, new music for FALLOUT 76: STEEL REIGN / STEEL DAWN / WASTELANDERS (“Hauntingly beautiful” – IGN) and the award-winning original score for THE ELDER SCROLLS: BLADES (top honors at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards), with other exciting titles in development.
Zur’s original score for FALLOUT 76 was released to universal praise, described by critics as “Superbly atmospheric music” and “An amazing ambient soundtrack,” while Game Informer (the world’s #1 video game magazine) hailed his score as “The best soundtrack for the series yet.” His best-selling soundtrack for FALLOUT 4 was described as “Sophisticated and atmospheric” (Classic FM) and celebrated as one of the best original video game scores by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, The PlayStation Awards, FACT Magazine, Paste Magazine and Classic FM. His iconic themes and avant-garde scores for FALLOUT 4 and FALLOUT 3 have earned Inon two BAFTA nominations for “Best Original Music” as well as nods from The Game Awards and Spike TV.
Classically trained with a flair for powerful, melodic orchestral writing, Zur’s rich portfolio also spans epic action/adventure genres and ethereal fantasy scores for other blockbuster entertainment properties including multiple entries in the PRINCE OF PERSIA series, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR IN THE NORTH (Classical MPR Best Video Game Soundtrack), DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS (Forbes’ “Top Video Game Soundtracks of All Time”), and DRAGON AGE II (“Best Original Video Game Score” at the Movie Music Awards UK). He also scored Ubisoft’s first virtual reality game, EAGLE FLIGHT (Classic FM‘s Top Ten Video Game Soundtracks of 2016), a breathtaking flight simulation experience set in the skies of Paris, and the beloved adventure game series SYBERIA 2 & 3 written and directed by visionary Belgian author and artist Benoît Sokal.
Zur also composed, conducted and produced the original orchestral themes for DISNEY FANTASIA: MUSIC EVOLVED, the groundbreaking musical motion video game inspired by Walt Disney’s classic animated film FANTASIA. Zur’s original score for FANTASIA: MUSIC EVOLVED was BAFTA nominated and honored among the honorees of Classic FM’s “The Best Video Game Music of 2014”. In addition to composing the original instrumental score, Zur produced the orchestral arrangement of QUEEN’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody” as well as collaborating with Harmonix and Disney to produce innovative new recordings of classical masterpieces by Bach, Dvořák, Liszt, Mozart, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi.
In addition to his iconic music in video games, Inon has also been providing critically acclaimed scores for film and television including the EMMY winning documentary SABER ROCK as featured on CNN and the suspense-thriller RECLAIM for Lionsgate. The score was released by Silva Screen Records to widespread critical acclaim; “Zur’s music for Reclaim perfectly captures the human drama of the film’s story in powerful and deeply emotional fashion.” – Film Score Monthly. Previously Zur also scored the animated TV shows POWER RANGERS, DIGIMON and ESCAFLOWNE as well as the FOX Family movies AU PAIR and AU PAIR II, which debuted with the most viewers in the network’s TV movie history.
Zur has recorded with Hollywood’s top musicians at Capitol Studios, FOX and Warner Bros. Studios as well as the London Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and the Philharmonia Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. His music has been performed in concerts worldwide (Cologne, Leipzig, London, Los Angeles, Malmö, Seoul, Sydney) by world-class orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall. He has also produced and collaborated with international recording artists including Florence + The Machine (DRAGON AGE II) and is signed to Sony Music as a recording artist with his debut major label album release, “Into The Storm”, selected among Classical KUSC’s best albums of 2019.
A graduate of the Music Academy of Tel Aviv in his native Israel, Zur relocated to the United States and attended the film scoring programs at the Dick Grove School of Music and UCLA, studying under such luminaries as composers Henry Mancini and Allyn Ferguson and orchestrator Jack Smalley. He resides with his family in Encino, California.
